Dragons contest winners and a few other outstanding works in the category

Book of Fantasies by G. Berry
available for sale HERE
FIRST PLACE (shared with Richard Hescox)

For this contest, of which the winners are chosen by members of Fine Art America with the exception of the honorable mention,  there were three first place winners. Actually, maybe I should say there were two winners, G. Berry and Richard Hescox. However between the two of them, there were three pieces that made it to first place (all got the same number of votes).

In this piece (above) by G. Berry, from Grand Blanc, MI, we have a dragon arising out of a book. In the background and through the book, we see a cliff with a castle rising out of a body of water. A moon shines over head.

Here are some product photos of this piece:

Here is our other winner:

Dragon for Sale by Richard Hescox
available for sale HERE
FIRST PLACE (shared with G. Berry)

In this piece we have a salesman before a castle carrying a briefcase trying to sell his dragon. This was originally a cover painting for the book "Dragon Companion".

Richard Hescox was initially an illustrator. His bio he states:

He has created many illustrations as a book cover artist, a production artist on Hollywood films, and as a concept artist and art director on computer games. His published works include hundreds of book covers, record album covers, movie posters and magazine illustrations. His paintings have been exhibited in shows held at the Society of Illustrators in New York, the Delaware Art Museum, the Canton Museum of Art and the Allentown Art Museum. Personally selected by the author, Richard recently completed a large series of illustrations for the Subterranean Press Limited Edition of George R. R. Martin's "A Clash of Kings".
