Kathy Kelly describes her piece this way:

This surrealistic piece by Kathy Kelly depicts an interstellar struggle. The work is both feminine and mystical with cool colors of blue, green, fading to black.

I have always enjoyed the works of Salvador Dali and later, the works of painter and digital artists Marco Escobedo and Yossi Kotler.

The piece depicts a female face with a helmet of electrodes all of which are peeled back to reveal an alien face. Stars and space matter abound.

The public (Fine Art America members) picked the first three.

I picked the other artists to feature below, including most creative, most unusual and most fun. I do this half heartedly because so many of the entrants are so good! If I had voted for first, second and third for this contest, however, I would have voted the same way as the public - a first for me. And if I had to pick most creative, most unusual and most fun, I would have picked the top three winners for those categories too.

However, to make it more interesting, I have picked other pieces that came very close (for me) to the top three.

FIRST PLACE (shared with Artful Oasis)

For this contest, there were two first place winners, three second place winners and three third place winners. All were chosen by Fine Art America members. The honorable mention for "most inventive piece" is chosen by the administrator of the group, Fantasy Art for Home and Office. A few other pieces were featured too, to give the niche of fantasy art more exposure.

Carol Cavalaris who made Seahose - Spirit of the Sea had this to convey about her piece (a kind of poem):

Seahorse
creature of contentment
symbol of good luck
you roam the sea
slowly and gently

like a tiny dragon
of the deep
accepting the ebb and flow

In this post, we feature the winners of the Fine Art America contest, The Weirdest Most Bizarre Fantasy Art Creatures plus some other outstanding pieces.

But first, is our first place contest winner, Jutta Marie Pusl from Germany. She is not a member of our group, but she is an accomplished artist in painting, photography and digital art. 

The scene she has depicted here could be underwater as much as above ground. 

This piece won best of contest for "Surreal Art for Home and Office" in March 2016. Is it no wonder that she won this contest too?
